The theme this year is 'Discovering your voice' highlighting the voices of those affected by hospice and palliative care around the world.
Unfortunately, many people still do not understand what hospice and palliative care is and how it can help people with life-limiting illness. This needs to change so that more people can access the care and support that they need.
This year, we are encouraging you to share your story on this website. At the end of August, one inspiring story or message will be chosen as the unifying factor for World Day and Voices for Hospices events this year. This story or message will be read out at events and activities around the world on October 10 2009.
